Dutch university repositories curated by the National Library of the Netherlands
Today it was anounced that electronic documents deposited in the repostiories of Dutch universities, connected through Darenet, will be currated by the National Library of the Netherlands. This announcement (in Dutch) is a new compelling argument for the libraries who operate the individual repositories to convince researchers to deposit more of their work in these repositories.
With the leading position of the National Library in the field of sustainabily archiving or curating electronic material we have one of the best opportunities to keep these copies accessible for future generations. If that is nog going to convince them....

Over de 'vluchtigheid' van electronisch publiceren:

Wow, dat is een dijk van een teleurstelling voor diegene die daar ooit in gepubliceerd hebben.
Ik ben dan ook een grote voorstander van LOCKSS. Parkeren in meer dan een repository mag wat mij betreft ook.

Ik begrijp uit de beschrijving van LOCKSS ['how it works'] dat het betreffende e-journal wel in de abonnementlijst van je bieb moet staan [bij ons dus het UB], anders kunnen er geen 'lokale' copien worden gemaakt door LOCKSS.
Phyloinformatics bestond nog maar kort, en het is de vraag of veel bibliotheken het al in hun lijst hadden staan. Aan de andere kant: het copyright op de artikelen zal wel weer vervallen aan de auteurs, die vervolgens op zoek kunnen gaan naar een ander en hopelijk wat robuuster e-journal.
